Michelle, I echo Sarah's sentiments. I'm truly sorry for the way you were treated by law enforcement, and that this brutal crime occurred at all--but to see you transform the experience into a tool for change and empowerment is inspiring.

Thank you Sarah.

I have been very impressed with all the work that is being done to publicize and end the backlog, and have tried to do my part to speak out, in part because I know that so many others cannot.

I appreciate your kind words.

Michelle, thank you for sharing your story. You, like Helena, have lived through an unimaginable ordeal, and yet you have found the strength and courage to use your voice to inform and inspire rather than to express harbored feelings of anger and hatred (though those feelings might certainly be justified). As you said, perhaps it is too late for you to see justice in your case, but please know that each time you tell your story you give hope to so many women who have yet to tell their own. Justice for you might not land squarely on your shoulders, but rest assured that your passion and determination for finding justice will play out in the lives of so many of the women who have found courage through you and your story.
